Seed Saving

With gardening taking on a new part of our lives, many of us are learning and trying things we never thought of doing before. As part of our newfound hobby, many of us have even started to save the seeds from the flowers and vegetables we produce. This is a great way to reduce the cost of money that is spent each year from having to purchase new seeds. .

Interestingly enough, there is a science behind which seeds to save and which ones you cannot. Two rules of thumb to remember are that you can never save seeds from:

- Any Hybrid variety, regardless of flower, fruit, or vegetable.
- Any flower, vegetable, or fruit that has been cross pollinated by another of the same species. An easy example is those of us growing multiple varieties of tomatoes or peppers, as the seed can become a hybrid seed.
